Top 5 Fab Fabrics of the Week! Storms.

Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. Psalm 107:28-30

 photo il_570xN485874993_71gh_zps338c9e57.jpg

Ahhh… The inevitable storms of life.

Storms come and go, one thing we know for certain is that we all go through them. No one has a special “get out of storm” card.

It’s through the storms of life that builds and molds us. That actually let’s us see who we really are and what we truly believe.

This is what God calls ‘The testing of our hearts’

Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Psalm 139:23

I think the most beautiful thing about going through the Storm, is knowing that ALMIGHTY GOD is right there with you allowing you to go through the storm so you know when you are weak, He is made strong.

 photo il_570xN496527819_ig09_zpsb93e3711.jpg

This is just a reminder that sometimes what we deem hindrances can actually be blessings indisgusie. To many times we want whats convenient and whats perfect.

Storms remind us of the ever changing weather we call our lives.

 photo il_570xN510707862_orib_zpsb27d2a71.jpg

We’re not perfect and niether is our lives. God is perfect right in our imperfectness. We try so hard to keep up with the trends, with what others are or not doing with “reality” tv. When in truth we should concentrate more on our own lives and those around us.

 photo il_570xN312529301_zpseedf7049.jpg

Have you ever heard of the Perfect Storm, I’m sure you’ve seen the movie with George Clooney with a tiny boat and a massive sea.

In retrospect that’s life. We’re on this boat called FAITH. And the raging seas and storms of life seem to challenge this boat. But this boat has a Captain and a Crew.

When we’re overly concerned about how massive the wave is or the Storm that is hitting us at the moment we can get lost and be overwhelmed. We can forget those around us and be crushed by the pressure, but when we look to the one who calms the seas, who calms our hearts we are given the opportunity of just seeing how small we are compared to HOW GREAT our GOD is.

 photo il_570xN557656189_jpja_zpsa38e6ce0.jpg

This weeks inspiration on fabrics are the Storms that seem big but actually are small compared to how AWESOME our GOD is. Stay in faith and you will see that no matter what you go through GOD’s strength always shines through. You will make it and you can do all things through Christ who gives you Strength. Don’t ever doubt the Power that GOD has and the LOVE HE has for you. He is Worthy, Faithful and will not ever leave you.

Thank you Jesus for Calming the seas. ♥

Be Blessed!

Hosanna in the Highest!!!

Top 5 Fab Fabrics of the Week! Handmade.

The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. Deuteronomy 28:1

 photo ecocolorfulus_zpsc6191a9a.jpg

What comes to mind when you think of handmade? One of the things that we as a fast paced, super-size me, made in “china” society has lost, is the simplistic and original content that only comes from something truly made from the heart.

Hand made people! It’s the new trend or so it should be! Seriously! As a handmade maker of all things beautiful ehem. hehe. I shall say that I’m an advocate of locally made. I never was like this. I didn’t understand the value lost in overseas transactions and factories called “sweatshops” that cater to big corps and such. I’m paraphrasing.

 photo il_570xN436567889_5izj_zps0be77b79.jpg

But I to fall victim to outsourcing materials. I admit it. But you know what going green doesn’t happen over night and neither does getting educated on where your garments are massed produced. One of my goals as a designer, maker of bags and lovely things is to source high quality materials from here in the states, keeping the economy boosted and usually when things are made here in the States or are local it’s made from an entrepreneur or small business and I for one want to support small businesses in my country. I was born in this country and so is my son. Although I do have a rich Dominican Heritage which I am proud of, I live here in the U.S.

 photo il_570xN411925597_aryc_zps47833da9.jpg

My mom says that the American dream has died. I for one know that with GOD all things are possible. I’m not saying to not buy from overseas, because I would buy from a small business over seas or a Big Eco-Conscious company in a heart beat vs. a Big manufacturer overseas who doesn’t care about their employees and harms the environment.

But I have to educate myself on what is the process that these items/materials/products are made with in order to make a difference in my purchasing decisions.

 photo il_570xN184642778_zps14c410c0.jpg

Are they overstaffed and underpaid? Or are they trying to enrich the community of artisans around them? I guess you can say I’m biased. I am a local designer, I’m a hand-maker of my products. But I have a vision to keep it Handmade, good quality, sustainable goods no matter how big or small I am.

 photo bird_zps92d7c558.jpg

As I become more infused with handmade, local, eco – conscious designs. I start becoming more educated on my environment and surroundings. I LOVE that GOD has given me this opportunity to be a sustainable, eco-conscious designer. I feel so honored to partake in such an awesome adventure and I can’t wait to share with you all and the world.

Because what I do here can be done anywhere. You may live in another country, you may have a dream of becoming a business owner or developing your talents and I say, “GO FOR IT”. Learn about your environment get infused with the rich culture and the people you can bless around you right where you are.

Because once we discredit those around us, follow the “hype” we become lost in the buzz and follow without knowing exactly what we are following or supporting. Where is your shirt from, that you’re wearing. what was the process of those earrings/bracelet?

I’ve met so many business owners, artisans, craftsmen and believers in sustainability that these people are like a family. They actually care about their environment and support one another. Once you start becoming more educated on what you put on you, you also start becoming more educated on what you ingest. Usually the handmade society is tied in with the organic, farmers market group. Because when you support local businesses you also support your local farmers, shakers and makers. ♥

What we purchase speaks more about us, then we like to think.

In effect, when we become conscious on how companies treat their employees & environment and not how much more or less an item is then we can change the economy and our way of living for the best. It’s about doing what’s right, not whats easy or convenient. That’s my take on handmade, what’s yours?

Until Next Time! Ciao!

P.S. Going “Green”, Shopping local and becoming aware of what you ingest is a process. I’m still just starting but it’s worth the journey! Start small and work your way up. Making educated decisions! ♥ Thank you Jesus! Allow God to also guide you. Be Blessed. Get to know your community there are rich resources around you.

Top 5 Fab Fabrics of the week! Texture.

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. Matthew 5:13

 photo il_570xN547183963_36y1_zpsa29c26e6.jpg

I didn’t know before, but now I know, know. We, each and every one of us is going through a battle.

These fabrics yet subtle represent this week’s inspiration, texture. You can say that texture is extremely important in our lives. Whether we love the clean lines and smooth feel of a granite kitchen, or the simplistic style of a butcher block table to the unique textures that come from enjoying a savoring bite of deliciousness. These are all textures, our lives are comprised of textures.

Looking down at my 4 month old son, with his innocent smile and excitement, his little hands outstretched to collide with the world, being enthralled with the new textures, excited to touch the ones that I present him from soft to grainy, all unique all an experience.

 photo cork_zps04e84d0b.jpg

You can say that texture is the salt of our touch. It surrounds us whether we know it or not. We live by touch. I believe fabrics bring an excellent element to our lives in not only sight but touch as well.

 photo Linen_zps9c3d6680.jpg

It’s by the words of our mouths that we can distinguish the texture of our character. Are we soft? Are we coarse or grainy? They bring an experience to each one of us but is it necessarily good?

 photo vintagewool_zps7a67bc49.jpg

These fabrics are each unique, each one of a kind and the underlining thread that draws each one is that they are all eco-conscious.

We all have an opportunity to decide where we want to be and how we want to live.

These fabrics represent a decision that I have been confronted by God. You may be given everything you need, but do you have the right texture? These fabrics represent an opportunity to feel yourself out. To understand where you are in life and what textures do you want to surround yourself with. Have you lost your texture? The right texture?

 photo leather_zps5e199ec2.jpg

We often get distracted by the problems in our lives, and often times more than not, we let time slip us by, taking little time to look into the little things that at first glance seem unimportant but, when taking a deeper look, bring tremendous impact into our lives and the world around us.

So…What is your texture and what are you representing?

Be Blessed.

Top 5 Fab Fabrics of the week! Grace.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them–yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 1 Corinthians 15:10

It’s a new year and a new day. I would like to start this year with my first blog post! Yay!
These are my Top Fab Fabrics, they are not just any fabrics but these amazing fabrics are truly unique and mean so much to me.

 photo DSCF1769_zps860887a6.jpg

I think it’s amazing how God guides and leads our steps and the steps of those around us.

Grace…

I not only found favor with a kindred spirit but I also saw kindness and the grace of God to be working around me. When God is in it, there is no limit.

I’m thankful and blessed to have these at times quiet and peaceful days, of exercising my creativity and shining some light to God’s Word, to be moments of reflection and beauty. Although I’m in uncharted territory with this vision that God has instilled in me, I find myself loving each and every precious moment and appreciating each person and each gift.

 photo DSCF1770_zps997c46a1.jpg

Take it one day at a time, is what I tell myself and what I’m reaching out to also tell you.

These fabrics are not only beautiful, unique, individual but the thread that aligns these pieces together is from my current client who has been so extremely patient and graceful. I can’t imagine continuing on this year without the people who encourage me, and up lift me.

Thank you so much for donating these and a whole lot other fabrics to Natural True Beauty, Shenine. You can find Shenine blogging over at: http://timelesstreasures4ever.wordpress.com/

And can check out her amazing site: http://www.treasures4ever.com/

Shenine, with her precious personality and uplifting spirit has shown me the depths of God’s heart and love in such kind gestures that it is just incredible. I have to give honor where honor is due.

Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Romans 13:7

Shenine, I honor you and pray to God that He continues to bless you and anoint you with this amazing Grace that He has over you. Thank you for being a blessing in my life.

No one says life is easy, no one says that we wont face trials or trouble. As Jesus puts it,

In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. Matthew 5:45

This year is not only a new year, but a new start a new beginning. Taking the good and letting go of the bad.

 photo DSCF1772_zps35dbc3b6.jpg

These fabrics not only inspire me to go boldly towards this New Year, but to thank God for the Grace He alone gives us that blesses those around us. This year take note of the abundance God has for you and live each day truly, honestly and fully!

Thank you all for your support, love, prayers and Thank you Jesus for it all!

Top 5 Fab Fabrics of the Week! Losing?

And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground. Luke 22:44

 photo RileyBlakeLostandFoundflowers_zps0f77bc57.jpg

You gotta be willing to lose, to win.

Jesus was willing to lose in order to win.

Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it Matthew 10:39

You have to be willing to lose to win.

 photo il_570xN480497688_glkb_zps8496466d.jpg

I didn’t understand this verse at first glance but this has been the verse that God has put on my heart and I now know what it implies.

In life in order for us to truly be able to have something truly, be it a relationship be it a business or any dream or aspirations. Some form or another we have to be willing to lose in order to gain.

 photo RileyBlakeLostandFoundblackflowers_zpsdea6d917.jpg

You see what usually holds a person back from accomplishing their success or obtaining their reward is the fear of loss. The fear of losing because sometimes you have to lose, but only for a moment to actually win.

I know it doesn’t make any sense when you think about it in a worldly sense.

“Because if you aint first your last!”  Hahaha Just Kidding (If you know who Ricky Bobby is then you shall understand that quote. But I digress)

Have you ever heard the quote:

“If you love something let it go & if it comes back then it’s yours”

In Life you’re going to face setbacks, you’re going to face difficulties that you, yourself may believe that you can’t. That you can’t take it, that you can’t handle it.

Take a look at Jesus and when His hour had come. Before He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities and confronted with what was to come, He prayed earnestly for the cup to pass from Him.

But HE was willing to Lose.

 photo polkadots_zps23da6a4d.jpg

I love How Jesus says,

No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.” John 10:18

 photo il_570xN441989052_mqj2_zpsff45f049.jpg

I chose these fabrics because they are from the Lost  & Found Collection of Riley Blake. I thought they were beautiful and fitting for this message and the inspiration I have received this week.

Sometimes you can face fear, you can be afraid of whats to come. But it’s part of the process it’s something you have to go through.

In John 10:17 it says, “Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

Jesus never asks us to do anything that He Himself hasn’t already done. He is truly the example of how we should live our lives.

We can not forget that we are made in His Image. He felt emotions, Anger, Sadness, Temptation, including grief and perhaps fear? I imagine He also laughed.

But because we feel these things doesn’t mean that anything is wrong. In fact it means you are alive. These emotions are indicators of what’s going on in our lives. In order to win, sometimes you gotta take the loss. Sometimes you have to pick up your cross go through the fire, the ridicule “Oh you’ll never amount to anything” or the “You can’t do that your too ‘weak’ your to'(Fill in the blank) ” But if you go through the testing of your heart, you will find a reward there.

Jesus rose up on the third Day. Your Day is just around the corner.

Until Next Time! Ciao!
