GOD & the City…Recap of @RedressRaleigh Runway and other stuff :)

After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 1 Kings 19:12

photo IMG_7554_zpsf83dd3b3.jpgBackstage at Redress Raleigh Fall Fashion Expo, I call it the Designers Lounge. Where we prepared our looks on our Models.

I can’t help but praise HIM! It’s amazing how GOD can turn around a situation and make it better than it would of been. I’m so excited to see what GOD is doing. Thank you Jesus!

HALLELUJAH!

photo IMG_7497_zpsb47f1953.jpgI took some pictures of the Runway, This was the Vintage Show. The beginning to something Great!

Sure I make mistakes, I’m not perfect and I never said I was. I hope to be humble and stay humble. I just know that I can’t do anything without Him, seriously.

photo IMG_7485_zps6fa14223.jpg I decided to dress in Black and white. To be honest these colors are always my go to colors for a big event. Baby sis did my Makeup.

I know it’s been a while and it may seem as though I took a bit of a sabbatical, or so for me it seems like it. I’d just like to say, thanks. Thanks for your patience for the follows and for the ones who truly do look forward into reading what I write. Thank you.

photo IMG_7489_zps32dfcad5.jpg My Son also dressed up! I got this outfit specifically for this event. He’s a born baseball player hehe. (Googly Moogly He’s so cute!)

On Saturday November 16th God had given me the grace and opportunity to do my first ever fashion show. It was amazing and at the same time I was nervous. Looking back I have no idea why I was so nervous. It’s the type of nerves that just comes out of nowhere that you really can’t control. It didn’t hit me the day before, or when the models where getting ready. It hit me back stage lined up ready to get on that Runway. That’s when it hit me, “This is For Real!“.

photo IMG_7493_zpsd9c97e99.jpg          This was the vintage Show which had started before the Designer show case

I was at an event called Redress Raleigh Fall Market & Fashion Expo.

 photo IMG_7495_zpsb5fa776d.jpg

I’ve written a few times about it. (If you’re new you can go ahead and search it on the right hand side before all of the pics 🙂 )

 photo IMG_7494_zps2691d055.jpg

God hands us opportunities.

It’s up to us to acknowledge these opportunities and try with all our hearts and might to meet the deadlines that GOD sets.

I don’t think my self as owner, founder or even a boss which that’s kinda boss. hehe, I’ve always had and still have in my heart that Jesus is my employer. Jesus is my Boss. Amen.

photo IMG_7483_zpse8ce99a7.jpg          (This is Mouna She was one of the make-up Artists who got my look down in what I wanted the models to Rock along with my accessories. Loved working with her!! You can follow her on facebook: Faces By Mouna She had come all the way from Fayetteville to be part of this event! God Bless her!)

 photo IMG_7865_zps1a01f551.jpg

photo IMG_7864_zps9d98892b.jpg           She had done 3 models Make up for the Runway, and By the Grace of God Redress had partnered me with, Paul Mitchel The School to do all hair and the rest of the Models make up! It was Amazing! And so was the atmosphere.

I’ve learned you can’t depend on people, not for a job, not for self assurance or any of that, I mean you can but I’m telling you. People will inevitably, disappoint you. (No one from the show disappointed me I’m writing in general 🙂 ) But that’s not the reason why we shouldn’t  depend on people. The reason is, you need to have GOD as your Top, you need to have GOD as your assurance as the one you are depending on for anything and everything because when you do things for people (For the flesh) you will run out of energy, you will feel unappreciated, you will feel so many other negative emotions it’s not even funny.

 photo IMG_7498_zps87e9d33e.jpg

And that’s where we make our mistakes. We want to please our families, we want to do things for our children and leave a legacy, we want to do things for OURSELVES. I’m not saying your selfish, but if the shoe fits. hehe, I Kid, I Kid…

 photo IMG_7500_zpscdc5ff2a.jpg

Basically, Reassess why it is your doing what your doing.

For everything in the world–the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life–comes not from the Father but from the world. 1 John 2:16

photo IMG_7515_zps72de5ac0.jpg           All the Models where lined up to take white background shots of the Models, side note: this was the photographers who’s equipment was stolen (Sadly after the event a photographers car was broken into and equipment was stolen along with these amazing pictures 😦 Silver lining, we’re doing a Re-shoot and the Runway footage is still intact. HALLELUJAH!. Join my Newsletter to be in the know with side notes and other what nots: http://mad.ly/signups/56068/join

I heard a sermon about LUST & LOVE. (Get your minds out the gutter people! Lust doesn’t have to mean sex, fyi) A person in Lust does the same thing as a person in Love the only difference is that a person in Lust will get bored. While a person in Love will always thrive.

photo IMG_7507_zps9120dcdd.jpg         You can’t help but look fabulous in Natural True Beauty accessories. There should be a warning label. CAUTION: May cause unnecessary Awesomeness and Fabulousness

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:4

photo IMG_7504_zps82c522ae.jpg Some of my Models practicing their walk and stance. Amen

When you place your dependence on worldly things, you are placing your heart there also because,

“For as he thinks within himself, so he is. He says to you, “Eat and drink!” But his heart is not with you” Proverbs 23:7

You know after my event I felt like the prophet Elijah who after doing something immensely powerful for GOD had gone into the wilderness and wanted to die because he was afraid.

Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, LORD,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” 1 Kings 19:3-4

Yup that was me, Elijah I totally know how you felt. Like really. I don’t believe Elijah was afraid at the one who threaten his life, I believe he was fearful of the unknown. Fear just came over him.

But one verse that kept whispering into my spirit was

And, “But my righteous one will live by faith. And I take no pleasure in the one who shrinks back.” Hebrews 10:38

 photo IMG_7556_zpsc38c21cd.jpg

After all the hype, the show was done the music and all that jazz…

I wanted to give up, I wanted to say “That’s all Folks” The End! I still had my etsy shop to build and I still had, and have so much on my plate it is rediculous, redonkulous, crazy, ridiculous. Especially in the degree that I should do it. And that’s with my All.

I don’t believe Elijah shrunk back, on the contrary I believe he then started searching for GOD.

Jesus has given us great power to do amazing things and sadly many people just stop at a certain point. I believe it’s because they have placed their dependence on things that fade away.

Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Mark 13:31

I wonder what Jesus meant by saying this?

photo IMG_7561_zpsb22bb990.jpgLined up and Ready to Hit the Runway!!!

As my father likes to say to me at times, “It’s for me to know and for you to find out!” Haha. I pray that GOD grants you Revelation and Grace, In Jesus name! AMEN!

Don’t stop when you only just begun.

Until Next Time. Ciao!

Music of the day: Lord of All (Yes you Guessed it! This was the song my Models walked to at the Runway, it was AWESOME!)

…he will give a crown of beauty for ashes… Isaiah 61:3

As we become more conscious of the effects we are having on our environment we start looking for ways to minimize our carbon footprint. Finding lucrative ways to be creative in all things including, FASHION!

One of the catalyst that is hitting up the scene with it’s dynamic approach to the Runway and it’s many adoring fans is Redress Raleigh!

 photo Reddress-78701_zpsbdd4f5a9.jpg

Based in North Carolina Redress Raleigh is known throughout the Triangle, NC for hosting the premiere eco-fashion show of the region. Starting with their 1st show in March 2009, the annual Spring show highlights innovative, accessible, and wearable responsibly-made fashion.

 photo _DSC5279copy_zps1d78b647.jpeg
As a designer I was honored to be part of Redress Raleigh Fall Expo & Fashion Runway special of Eco-Conscious Designs. I had created and designed handbags along with matching scarves hitting the catwalk with a flare and passion for GOD.

 photo _DSC5084_zpsf4bb2e14.jpeg

God is incredibly Faithful and when you are called to do something GOD surely provides. This may be my first steps into fashion but it’s surely guided by the grace of God.

 photo _DSC5108copy_zps9363191c.jpeg

I’ve never really considered the impact the fashion world has on what I wear, nor the impact that my own clothing makes. Until I myself stumbled across this new world.

Sustainability is definitely becoming a new way for artists and innovative designers to express themselves giving mainstream Fashion a run for their wallets.

 photo _DSC5262copy_zpsde8c05a4.jpeg

It’s not only now hip to wear a local designer, made in the USA or sustainability friendly, it’s a necessity, as our world plummets with unethical ways of creating garments. (I mean have you seen the sweat shops in these other countries?)

Next time you buy those new pair of shoes, or that extravagant top. Ask yourself, what impact are you making? What message do you want to say with who you choose to wear.

Choose wisely, Choose local.

Top 5 Fab Fabrics of the week! Eco?

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17

 photo DSCF1233_zpsed2d45e3.jpg

Hallelujah Praise GOD thank you JESUS!!!

God is so amazing and I just want to say that He surely makes old things New! These fabrics are a representation on how God can transform us and create something new within us. photo 2012-07-14140238_zps38a11078.jpg He takes what we once were. With our problems, mindset and troubles, renewing us in a way that we can only describe as the grace of GOD. I’ve never been more alive than now and I’m thankful.

 photo DSCF0786_zps8dcdcaef.jpg

A prayer that I say when going through difficult times or when I’ve made a mistake is “Lord, some how make my wrongs right.” Basically, I don’t want the mistake to be in vain, I want God to take those mistakes, those “ashes” and make something new from them. So I let go and I give it to Jesus.

 photo DSCF0785_zps8965a588.jpg

These fabrics are from my fall collection. I’ve been working on this collection for a while now. I’ve learned so much through the making and piecing and how GOD knows the final result.

 photo IMG_5375_zpsa83ac476.jpg

Sometimes we can’t see past our circumstances. Past our mistakes. I’ve noticed when creating this collection, through my mistakes, if I remained calm, not giving in to the temptation of worrying about the mistake I made and the effect it has done. Just letting go and allow GOD to guide me. I usually am guided into making something a lot more beautiful and creative than I originally had planned!

 photo IMG_5453_zps7f05c261.jpg

I choose this picture as the 5th fabric because it’s the finish result of my collection all mixed together. We may not see how God is transforming us. Sometimes we can’t see the Good in certain situations that are hurtful, stressful and can really shake our faith.

During some of these times we even make mistakes and wonder, “have a fallen out of God’s will?

The truth is you can not ever fall out of God’s will. It says in the bible,

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. John 10:28

When we dedicate our life to Jesus, when we give our hearts to Christ right then and there the heavens are rejoicing and your name was transformed to the book of life. Many times we make mistakes, even during our walk with GOD. These are often called “sin” meaning “missing the mark” but one thing we can stand firm on, is that “sin” no longer has a hold of us. We are free from it. Condemnation does not come form GOD. Conviction does. Conviction is an acknowledgement that you have done something wrong and it is needed for us to see the truth.

And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

Condemnation is actually remaining in that sin. Not allowing God’s grace to work and transform you.

We all have burdens to bear in this life. The bible refers to it as a yoke. A yoke was actually used back in the day when they would use an animal to plow the ground. To make way for the seeds to grow the harvest. This plowing was a heavy load, a burden, on the necks of these animals.

Jesus has taken your yoke.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29

And He’s given you His in exchange for yours.

Rest in the thought that GOD loves you and you don’t surprise Him. He didn’t wash away your past sins, He washed it all away. You are RIGHT with GOD. Don’t ever forget. ♥

Until Next time!

Down the Runway @RedressRaleigh

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26

 photo IMG_5719_zpsa8e6009f.jpg

This weekend Redress Raleigh was conducting their first Fall Eco-Friendly Fashion Show interviews. I was one of these designers who was called in.

If you’re not familiar with Redress Raleigh, Get Familiar! They are doing a great sustainability fashion movement here in the North Carolina Wake County area, and I’m just blessed to be a part of it and that I was picked! As one of the designers to strut their designs down the Runway Coming this Fall,

November 16th, 2013, at the Durham Armory!

photo DSCF1232_zps6c1d1f05.jpgJamie on the left and Beth on the right, Mor was in LA, but they are the owners & masterminds behind Redress Raleigh! An honor to be in their presence.

As all interviews it can be a bit nerve racking. Did I ask the right questions did I say enough? Did I say too much? All these questions can go through your head and I’m just thankful I’ve worked hard to get my vision for Natural True Beauty’s Fall Collection into reality! Thank you Jesus.

 photo DSCF1233_zpsed2d45e3.jpg

I also didn’t go unprepared, thank the Lord, I managed to create wonderful pieces before the interview and also have a wonderful photo-shoot which also brought the designs to life. I also developed a neat simple packet of my inspiration and the looks. I’ve also showed Redress Raleigh something a little extra. Eco Friendly SCARVES! To go with the Collection! I’m just ecstatic and excited for this opportunity and if you are wondering what these scarves may look like, why not attend the Fashion Show!! That’s were you will see them first!

Last year, I wasn’t picked and it just goes to show if you don’t get discouraged, and you believe in your heart that you are meant to do what you’re meant to do. Doing it with all your heart, with all the challenges that come in the way and all the opportunities, taking the good with the bad, that just makes you that much more capable, that much more better. I’ve learned so much and to be honest the Greatest Lesson I’ve learned this season is,

We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps. Proverbs 16:9

 photo DSCF1230_zpsef1ffd09.jpg

I hope that what ever dream God has placed in your heart, that you take this little blog post as an example that GOD can open the right doors. Don’t ever Give up and Don’t ever Give in. There’s a reason why you have the talents that you have. There’s a reason why you have that passion in your heart. And when you do it with all your heart for GOD nothing is in vain. When you do it with passion & Love God will most definitely Guide your steps. Just Believe.

Thank you Redress Raleigh for this wonderful opportunity. Thank you Jesus for Guiding me. For always being there even in the trying times.

At The Shop! Teal Blue Patchwork Tote

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. Psalm 91:7

 photo DSCF0841_zpsb6c89ed1.jpg

GOD is so Awesome He knows how to cheer us up!!! Yesterday was the Hubby’s B-day and He says He’s 22 forever. Haha, I will respect his wishes and I will not say his age. Yes so it was a good day and we had agreed to not buy any gifts but I did make him a card and a wallet :D. Although he’s asked for a few add-ons and I will be hitting the drawing board to give him a better prototype :). He makes me better.

 photo DSCF0848_zps869ebd41.jpg

However this post is about the new Bag at the Shop! To be honest, I love this bag, maybe I’m biased because I love every bag I make but hey, I can’t help it if I see God’s miracles in each bag!

 photo DSCF0854_zps0187890f.jpg

I’ve noticed that in each creation I make, God has a story, a whisper or a word and I just can’t help but share. It’s amazing and I do love going back and reading some of them. They are so encouraging and sometimes I need a lift me up!

This bag just represents to me, Perseverance! Because it’s not about just staying passive and not doing anything. It’s about Going through the storm and doing all you can to stay afloat even if it’s just praying, or staying positive.

It says in the word:

The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway. Proverbs 15:9

 photo DSCF0856_zps03f5e4c8.jpg

It hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it. Being a momma to be, being preggers you go through so many ups and downs. And just because I’m tired doesn’t mean to just give up and not do anything.

On the contrary, the Blessing is going to come regardless of what I do. This baby is coming no matter what, but if I’m diligent in trying to work out, so that I may have a smoother delivery, pulling my weight around the house, allowing PEACE to breathe, continue to pursue my dream and finish as much as I can to prepare for my baby boy while also praying that all will go as God wants it to go, knowing He loves me, although it’s difficult at times, it’s so worth it. Just knowing I’m giving my all for God, for my family for my dreams. It’s amazing. Just like a workout where you pushed your limits and you know you did all you could, you ran as far &  as fast as you could.

Nothing can replace that feeling. Sometimes you gotta get uncomfortable to feel good. You gotta do what you know is right even when it’s hard, even when it hurts, to receive a reward. The reward of Peace, of knowing you Can even when it seems impossible. Of trusting GOD all the way through and not giving up because the Blessing is Coming, but how will you receive it? Would you even recognize the blessing? Or would that blessing be a burden? A burden because you haven’t prepared the way for it to arrive smoothly? Just food for thought.

And although I was working on my fall collection, on other business endeavors, business owner responsibilities on top of being pregnant & a wife, I finished what I dreamed I would finish, to have a bag in my shop! Yes! This first bag, which has so much detail and so much work behind it. I hope the owner of this wonderful Tote not only appreciates something made by hand but also appreciates the materials and the will to fight to make what seems impossible possible.

 photo DSCF0859_zpsefbf36f9.jpg

The materials made in this bag is from up cycled materials. This is an Eco-friendly Bag. GOD gives Beauty for ashes. What we do can not ever be enough but God transforms the smallest sacrifices into great treasures.

 photo DSCF1211_zpsddf82fed.jpg

Hallelujah! Thank you Jesus! I’m Thankful!!!

Until Next time! Ciao!
